Title IX
Our school is committed to fostering a safe and equitable environment for all, in accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. This federal law protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in any of our education programs or activities receiving Federal financial assistance.
Sexual harassment, as defined by Title IX, includes three main types of misconduct:
- "Quid pro quo" harassment, where sexual demands are made for educational benefits.
- Unwelcome conduct that is severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive, effectively denying equal educational access.
- Instances of sexual assault, dating violence, or stalking, as defined by other federal laws.
All school staff, including employees, substitutes, contracted personnel, volunteers, and lay coaches, are mandated reporters under Title IX. This means they must notify the Title IX Coordinator if they become aware of potential sexual harassment. The Title IX Coordinator is the first point of contact for reports, responsible for coordinating Title IX compliance, educating the community, and ensuring supportive measures are offered. These free, individualized services—such as counseling or schedule adjustments—are designed to restore or preserve equal access to education and safety. Throughout any Title IX process, equal rights and protections are provided to all parties involved. Further information, including training materials, is available on the District’s webpage.
